First Open Tangst Convention - preliminary plans
Note: Me and my inability to follow through on plans are notorious. I expect everyone (admins, contributors, and posters) to hold me to the following.
For those who didn't know, most of the admins and contributors (plus some long time posters we know in real life) had a Tangst dinner before the Key Club dance this past weekend. That was the first time the majority of the old guard got together in real life. And everyone knows who everyone else is now, as far as the board is concerned. It was a lot of fun, and at the dinner, we revealed the initial plans for the very first Tangst Convention in celebration of the 6th month anniversary of the creation of the Tangst website (September 14, 2005).
Right now, we're planning on Friday, March 10, 2006 at Pullen Park from as soon as me and the rest of the admins can get there after school until about sundown. The prompting for this event is the T-shirts (which we all want anyways) in honor of the anniversary.
Because what we'd like is on March 14th (the actual anniversay), for everyone to wear their t-shirt. Semi-advertisement, semi-pride, semi-yes-we-are-dorks sort of thing.
Everyone would bring their own plain t-shirt, a list of their favorite posts, and $5 bucks (to cover the cost of pizza and drinks). I'm sorry there's so much prep work involved for the people wanting to attend, but we admins are trying to have lives outside the website. Kinda hard when everyone you know is somehow involved, but we're trying.
Yes, I know, it's early to plan this sort of thing, but I wanted some feedback from everyone in the community. Does this work for the majority of area Tangsters? Would the non-Triangle Area Tangsters like to be included in this as well? Does this idea suck? Is it the best thing since sliced bread? Or Tangst itself? Should I stop asking myself rhetorical questions? What is that dot on the ceiling? Would I please be serious for once?
You know... that sort of thing.
So yes, please give me and the other admins your feedback so we can improve these plans to work for the most number of people. We're all about being inclusive.
As the date of the meet gets closer, a notice will be put up on the Tangst website itself as a reminder. We'll probably do this about two weeks before so people have time to check their schedules and plan ahead.
I'll explain more about the t-shirts in the next post. Promise.
