More Admins?
I've been tossing around a few ideas lately, some of which I might present here later.
The one that's got me really thinking, though, is going on a short sabbatical (like two weeks to a month) in regards to tangst. The fact of the matter is that the site takes of way too much of my time. While I love it, and everyone's support makes me incredibly happy, the sheer volume of posts is a tad overwhelming. We're almost at the 300 mark, which I may celebrate by revealing one of my secrets. Now that more people know about our little nook of the Internet, the number of comments has really gone up. On any given day of the week, tangst gets at least 70 hits. Actually, that was the least number of hits it's gotten since the increased traffic started (and that day happened to be over Winter Break).
I like that site is getting more popular. It's really cool that everyone's embraced it and is posting like mad. I hope this growth continues. However, I need a break. So what I'm planning is that after exams are over, I want to start a transition to actually have other administrators. Right now, there are just contributors. I'll of course send them an e-mail with more specific details as to exactly what it is I'm thinking of doing. And they definitely get first dibs on admin spots. I don't know how many I want, but I think somewhere around 10 would be good. Maybe less.
Administrating duties would just be things like checking the site to see if there are any new comments and posting them and not allowing comments on the posts over a month old. Just daily upkeep sort of things. Monitoring the previous posts to make sure that there doesn't need to be an intervention or censoring of comments. Simple stuff, but there's just too much of for me to do alone anymore.
The point of this is that I know all of the people who read this also read tangst, but that the people who read tangst don't necessarily read my blog. That's fine. Preferable, actually. But I wanted to give the people closer to me the opportunity to talk with me about it and help me figure out what I'll be doing. So if there are any suggestions, tips, questions, etc, leave me a comment here, or talk to me in real life. Oddly enough, real life might be more convenient.
Change can be good, and I'm hoping the transition will be relatively smooth. I hope so, anyways.
